Jose Fernandez was a superstar on and off the field. His passion for the game equaled his passion for life. His high energy, passion, attitude and impact for the game will be missed. Regrettably never met Jose Fernandez, but he was my favorite player to watch. Not only because he was great, or because I can relate to his background. But because he seemed so real, so full of life, so comfortable with who he was. This is just so damn heartbreaking.

Sorry to hear about the untimely death of @Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez. Prayers go out to the families involved in the boating accident.

Anything we say in reaction to the news of Jose Fernandez's death seems trivial compared to the magnitude of his loss. He was obviously an amazing pitcher with Hall of Fame potential. But I've been doing this for almost 30 years, and I can only recall a handful of ballplayers who were as naturally vibrant or charismatic. This is just so difficult to understand or accept.
