Great day for Dave Dombrowski, landing Tyler Thornburg, who had a dominant breakout season for the Brewers, and then Chris Sale, the biggest prize of the offseason. Sure, Yoan Moncada looks like a future star, but Michael Kopech is a huge wild card and the Red Sox get a Cy Young contender on a team-friendly contract for the next three seasons.

Word at the winter meetings is that Jerry Blevins is seeking a three-year deal with a $5.5 million to $6 million salary annually. That's going to be beyond the Mets' appetite. The Mets may not bring in any relievers via free agency until January.

Seth Lugo is under consideration to pitch for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic. Terry Collins said he hasn't heard any confirmed commitments to WBC from the Mets.

Terry Collins seems taken with the idea of having Tim Tebow in the organization. Just said, "If he's not in camp (in the spring), I'll find a way to get him over. "

Terry Collins says the Mets have a capable alternative in Addison Reed to close if Jeurys Familia is suspended by MLB. The simple assault charge may be dropped at a hearing on Dec. 15, although that would not preclude Familia getting suspended.

Terry Collins reacts to the re-signing of Yoenis Cespedes. Collins added that Curtis Granderson, barring a trade, will play a lot of center field.

Hearing free agent Tyson Ross isn't going to sign with a team anytime soon. Cubs should be in the mix but plenty of others as well including San Diego.

Terry Collins was noncommittal on Zack Wheeler in the bullpen, but acknowledged it may make sense to start the season as a reliever in order to keep his innings in check before entering the rotation later in the year.

Terry Collins says David Wright will be in Port St. Lucie beginning in January. Wright is due to begin baseball activity shortly. Collins hopes Wright will play, maybe, four days in a row and then have a day off during the season.

Terry Collins says Travis d'Arnaud and Michael Conforto likely will get some exposure to first base during spring training. Collins already has spoken with Jose Reyes about exposure to center field in spring training.

A full postseason share for Cubs players after winning the World Series is $368,871.59, the league announced on Tuesday. The Cubs issued 66 full shares, 8.7 partial shares and four cash awards. The players pool is formed using a formula based on gate receipts from the postseason. The players vote on who receives shares.

A rival executive said he heard the St. Louis Cardinals' initial offer to Dexter Fowler is in the same range as the four years and $60 million that the Toronto Blue Jays reportedly made.

Chicago based agent Mark Pieper holds court with Japanese media regarding Munenori Kawasaki and pitcher Koji Uehara. Pieper will meet with the Cubs regarding a possible reunion with Kawasaki though the infielder is debating whether he wants to play in the states again. It's likely he will. Uehara is an outside fit for the Cubs as a body for the back end of the bullpen though at 42 years old he's hardly the answer at closer.
