What did home plate umpire Mike Everitt have to say following tonight's game? "All of the players, as well as the manager and coach, were warned, and sometimes more than once or twice. I will be filing my report with the Commissioner's office in New York," he said, according to a pool reporter. He also declined a radio reporter entry into interview.

Victor Martinez gets tossed

Tigers DH Victor Martinez argues with home plate umpire Mike Everitt about a called strike in the third inning, resulting in his ejection. Martinez would continue yelling from the dugout, including throwing a helmet on the field.

Tensions were mounting before the rash of ejections, according to manager Brad Ausmus. Team was not happy with how strike zone was being called and felt it was inconsistent for each team. Particularly bothersome were the strike calls below the knees. Ausmus said he's not concerned about Everett working rest of series or future games. Characterized it as an "off night."

Tigers RF J.D. Martinez said he simply told home plate umpire Mike Everitt he was having a bad day. Asked him to own up to it. Surprised by short leash that led to his first career ejection.

Should be an interesting post-game considering the four ejections from tonight's contest. Home plate umpire Mike Everitt flanked by his crew as he exits the field. Roundly booed by Comerica Park fans as he walks through tunnel. Tigers see five-game winning streak come to an end with 3-2 loss to Angels

A couple of fine defensive plays from Justin Upton in the outfield tonight. Has been a thorn in Albert Pujols' side. Tigers continue to hang with Angels, trailing by one run heading into bottom of the ninth. Five-game winning streak on the line.

Mookie Betts ends an 8-3 Red Sox victory with a shoestring catch. Betts, Xander Bogaerts and Hanley Ramirez went deep, Dustin Pedroia notched four more hits, and David Price grinded through six innings, as Boston remains one game behind Toronto in the AL East.

Dustin Pedroia grounds into a double play to end the eighth inning, ending his streak of hits at 11 consecutive at-bats, one short of tying the major-league record. Also, Pedroia's on-base streak is stopped at 12 straight plate appearances.

There's more than a month to go in the regular season and the Mets have already broken their club record for home runs at Citi Field. Kelly Johnson hit the team's 86th, a pinch-hit grand slam in the seventh inning against the Phillies. The previous mark of 85 was set last season.

Stellar play from OF Andrew Romine, who capitalizes on a gaffe by LAA's Mike Trout and cuts him down at first with an inning-ending double play. Amidst all the ejection uproar, still a two-run game and that mistake by one of the game's biggest stars may count as a huge break for DET.

Home plate umpire Mike Everitt has now ejected four people from tonight's game. The most recent to get tossed? Tigers RF J.D. Martinez, who did not seem particularly demonstrative. That's his first career ejection. Have not seen anything like this. DH Victor Martinez, hitting coach Wally Joyner, manager Brad Ausmus and Martinez all thrown out.

11 consecutive at-bats with a hit for Dustin Pedroia, who is one shy of tying the major-league record.
