Mets receive RHP Sedlacek

FLUSHING, New York -- The Kansas City Royals, looking to
bolster their bullpen, acquired lefthander Jaime Cerda
from the New York Mets for righthander Shawn Sedlacek on Monday.

The 25-year-old Cerda, who split last season between the Mets
and Class AAA Norfolk, joins Curtis Leskanic, Jason Grimsley, Mike
MacDougal, Scott Sullivan, D.J. Carrasco and potentially Jeremy
Affeldt in the bullpen.

Cerda was 1-1 with a 5.85 ERA in 27 games with the Mets but
dominated at the Class AAA going 3-0 with a 1.67 ERA in 22

Sedlacek, 27, was 4-11 with a 6.45 ERA at Class AAA Omaha in
2003. He made 16 appearances, including 14 starts, for the
Royals in 2002 -- going 3-5 with a 6.72 ERA.
