Minor-league pitcher goes to Toronto

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Toronto Blue Jays acquired
right-hander Chad Gaudin from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for catcher
Kevin Cash in the first transaction completed Sunday at the winter
meetings.

Gaudin, 21, split last season between the Devil Rays and
Triple-A Durham of the International League. He was 1-2 with a 4.85
ERA in four starts and 24 relief appearances for the Devil Rays and
1-3 with a 4.72 ERA in seven starts and 10 relief appearances with
Durham.

Cash, 27, hit .193 with four homers and 21 RBIs in 60 games for
the Blue Jays last season. He started 50 games and threw out 42.4
percent of attempted base stealers.
