NAGOYA, Japan -- Fernando Seguignol hit a two-run homer in
the top of the eighth inning Sunday, leading Trey Hillman's Nippon
Ham Fighters to a 5-2 win over the Chunichi Dragons in Game 2 of
the Japan Series.
Seguignol, who played for the Montreal Expos from 1998-2001,
connected off reliever Shinya Okamoto with a blast into the right
field stands at Nagoya Dome that gave the Fighters a three-run lead
and tied the best-of-seven series at 1-1.
The series now moves to Sapporo Dome for the next three games.
The Fighters are playing in their first Japan Series since 1981.
It was the first Japan Series win for Hillman, who is among
several candidates to replace Buck Showalter as manager of the
Texas Rangers. Hillman is in the final year of a second two-year
contract with the Fighters.
