Proctor won't be suspended for hitting Youkilis

BOSTON -- New York Yankees pitcher Scott Proctor was told he
won't be suspended for hitting Boston Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis -- the fifth hit batsman in Friday night's game.

Yankees manager Joe Torre said before Saturday's game he got the
news from general manager Brian Cashman.

"Getting hit is part of the game," Torre said. "If you take
pitching inside away, you can't survive in this game."

Youkilis approached the mound after he was hit by a pitch that
veered near his head in the ninth inning of New York's 9-5 victory.
