Outfielder to miss season following surgery on right knee

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Preston Wilson underwent surgery on his right knee Tuesday and will be out the rest of the season.

The procedure to repair the articular cartilage was performed by Dr. Richard Steadman in Vail, Colo.

Wilson, 32, batted .219 in 25 games with one home run and five RBIs this year. His two-run home run on April 20 lifted the Cardinals to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
