Report: Kotsay, BoSox agree to deal

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a one-year deal with Mark Kotsay, MLB.com reported Friday.

Kotsay was acquired by the Red Sox on Aug. 27 in a waiver deal with the Atlanta Braves. He started all seven games of the American League Championship Series because of a right hip injury to Mike Lowell.

The Kotsay deal will not be finalized until he takes a physical next week.

Kotsay will fill in at first base and provide depth in the outfield.
