Upton out with right quad injury

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Rays center fielder B.J. Upton left Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox after two innings due to right quadriceps tightness.

Upton singled in his only at-bat leading off the first, and later stole third base.

Upton missed the first six games this season while recovering from offseason left shoulder surgery. He had a team-best seven homers and 16 RBIs during the 2008 postseason, helping the Rays win their first AL pennant.

"I don't anticipate it to be bad," said Maddon, who thinks Upton could return in the next few days.
