Colon scratched with elbow soreness

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Chicago White Sox have scratched Bartolo Colon from Wednesday's start against the Minnesota Twins because of soreness in his right elbow.

Jose Contreras will start the series finale against the Twins, who have taken the first two games to move into a tie with the White Sox for second place in the AL Central.

Colon is 3-6 with a 4.19 ERA in 12 starts for the White Sox this season. He spent nearly eight weeks on the disabled list with inflammation in his left knee. But he returned on Friday to pitch seven strong innings in a loss to Detroit.

A team spokesman says he will be evaluated again at the Metrodome on Wednesday.

Contreras is 4-9 with a 4.80 ERA in 14 starts this year. He will face Francisco Liriano.
