Red Sox option Bowden to Triple-A

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox have called up Enrique Gonzalez from Pawtucket and optioned Michael Bowden to the Triple-A team in a move involving right-handed pitchers.

The transactions came after Bowden allowed seven runs and eight hits in two innings of relief in Friday night's 20-11 loss to the New York Yankees. Bowden had been called up earlier in the day.

Gonzalez also had a brief stint with Boston this month. He had been called up Aug. 8, when he allowed two runs in 1 2/3 innings of a 5-0 loss at New York. He was designated for assignment the next day and outrighted to Pawtucket on Aug. 12.
