Blanks in cast with foot injury

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Padres rookie outfielder Kyle Blanks has a partial tear in his plantar fascia and will have his right foot placed in a cast.

Blanks was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday. He'll be reevaluated in a week.

Blanks had been bothered by a sore right foot for about a week, and aggravated it Friday night while rounding the bases following a two-run homer at Florida.

Blanks was batting .250 with 10 home runs and 22 RBIs this season, his first in the big leagues.
