Willis sits out due to 102-degree fever

DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland says Dontrelle Willis will not make his scheduled start against the New York Yankees because of an 102-degree fever.

Brad Thomas took Willis' spot in Detroit's rotation Monday night in the series opener.

Thomas also replaced Willis when he missed an April 24 start in Texas because of stomach problems.

Willis is 1-1 with a 3.99 ERA in five starts and a relief appearance this year, bouncing back from two poor seasons with the Tigers.
