Coghlan exits after fifth inning at-bat

MIAMI -- Florida Marlins left fielder Chris Coghlan is expected to miss at least one game with a strained lower back.

Coghlan came out of Saturday night's game against the Washington Nationals after he struck out in the fifth inning. Manager Edwin Rodriguez said Coghlan will sit out on Sunday, and his status is day to day.

Coghlan said team trainers suspect he hurt his back making a diving catch Friday night. He aggravated the injury batting in the fifth Saturday and was replaced by Emilio Bonifacio, who will start Sunday.

The NL Rookie of the Year in 2009, Coghlan missed three games in April with sore ribs after making a diving catch. He's batting .146 this month, and his season average is .263.
