Leo Nunez agrees with Marlins

ORLANDO -- Reliever Leo Nunez and Florida Marlins reached an agreement on Monday on a one-year contract worth $3.65 million to avoid arbitration, a source told ESPNdeportes.com.

Nunez earned $2 million last season when he went 4-3 with a 3.46 ERA, and 30 saves in 38 chances.

Nunez, 27, struck out 71 and allowed 21 walks in 65 innings pitched last year. He has 56 saves in two years with the Marlins.

The righthander, who is 17-16 with a 4.40 ERA in six years with Kansas City and Florida, was eligible for salary arbitration for the second time in his MLB career.
