Kerry Wood's Grand Entrance

It happened on May 12, 1998, and, OK, it wasn't precisely his entrance to the game. Close enough, though. Wood was a rookie making only his fifth career major league start when he struck out 20 Houston hitters for the Cubs that afternoon. He so dominated the Astros that it was hard for a young minor leaguer still trying to make his way in the game not to notice. "That was my second year in pro ball, and it was my introduction to what it takes to be a big leaguer," the Mets' R.A. Dickey said. "And I was a little intimidated, to be honest." Dickey picked Wood's tour de force for his Game of Choice, although he lobbied hard to be able to see Jackie Robinson's debut and Game 6 of last year's World Series, too. (Sorry, R.A. We can only afford enough gas to get you back to one game.)
