Wil Myers out before 8th with cramps

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Tampa Bay rookie right fielder Wil Myers left Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Monday night against Boston because of cramping in both legs.

Myers took an awkward swing on a foul ball in the seventh inning and grabbed the area around his left calf. He limped back to the dugout after striking out for the third out.

Myers went to right field after the inning, then headed back to the infield and was met by a team trainer. The Rays said Myers received intravenous fluids.

"It's kind of a dehydration thing," manager Joe Maddon said. "With that, he should probably be fine (for Game 4 on Tuesday night)."

A leading contender for AL rookie of the year, Myers exited with the score tied at 3. Tampa Bay won 5-4, cutting its deficit to 2-1 in the best-of-five series.

Matt Joyce, the Rays' designated hitter, replaced Myers in right field.
