Orioles closer Zach Britton just gave up an earned run for the first time since April, as Anthony Rendon doubled in Bryce Harper. Oh by the way, the O's almost blew a 10-3 lead in the ninth. But Britton escaped by getting Ryan Zimmerman on a game-ending DP. Baltimore wins 10-8 and can sweep the Battle of the Beltway with a win over Washington tomorrow.

The Cardinals have finally found their identity. They will try to mash their way to the World Series. Randal Grichuk seems to be the embodiment of the new philosophy, one that is not typically associated with the Cardinals. Since he came back from a minor-league demotion, Grichuk has 13 hits, 12 of them for extra bases. The Cardinals have hit 177 home runs, easily the most in the National League.

Daniel Murphy must not like being second-best. On the first day since May 8th that he wasn't leading the NL in hitting (D.J. LeMahieu was), the Nats slugger has gone 3-for-5, including a ninth inning grand slam. Murphy's first career salami, it cuts the O's lead to 10-7.

Corey Seager steps to the plate in the first inning holding a 14-game hitting streak. The Dodgers' rookie is batting .509 (29-for-57) in that stretch.

Yu Darvish helps himself with first career HR

The Rangers pitcher made his night on the mound a little easier when he hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to give Texas a lead in its eventual 6-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds.

Keep a lookout tomorrow for updates on Andrew Benintendi, who sprained his knee as a result of a bad baserunning play. On second base on a grounder to shortstop, he attempted to return to second even though he had already passed the fielder. He was tagged out as he tried to evade the tag.

Rich Hill is making his Dodgers debut by becoming the 14th starting pitcher the team has used this season. The Dodgers have six starters currently on the DL.

How big of a rut has Jacob deGrom fallen into? His outing Wednesday marked the first time in franchise history that a Mets pitcher allowed a dozen hits in consecutive appearances, and the first time in deGrom's career he has allowed double-digit hits in consecutive starts. DeGrom was charged with five runs on 12 hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Cardinals.

Jose Fernandez halts Royals' win streak

This Fernandez strikeout of Alex Gordon made him the Marlins' single-season strikeout king -- it also helped Miami end Kansas City's win streak at 9 games.
