Eduardo Nunez won't join Red Sox until Friday. No decision yet on whether Rafael Devers stays or returns to minors, according to Dave Dombrowski.

Mariners 6, Red Sox 5: Talk about a gut punch. One strike from winning a 13-inning marathon, the Red Sox lost on Guillermo Heredia's game-tying RBI single, a wild pitch by Doug Fister, a walk and an infield single by Jean Segura. Boston has lost four games in a row, their lead in the AL East down to one game over the Yankees. On a night when the Red Sox traded for infielder Eduardo Nunez, baby-faced 20-year-old top prospect Rafael Devers made his debut and went 0-for-4 with two walks, one run scored and a few nice defensive plays at third base.

Red Sox will send minor-league right-handers Shaun Anderson and Gregory Santos to the Giants in return for Eduardo Nunez. Anderson is 6-3 with a 3.42 ERA in 18 starts between two Class A levels; Santos, 17, is 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA in seven rookie-ball starts.

Eduardo Nunez could potentially serve a few purposes for Red Sox: a) right-handed hitter can platoon at third with lefty-swinging Rafael Devers; b) can spell banged-up Xander Bogaerts at shortstop (Bogaerts has four hits in last 35 at-bats)

I really wish the Angels were self-aware enough to just start hugging Mike Trout in the dugout en masse as a rib

The Indians beat the Angels on Edwin Encarnación's 11th-inning grand slam. It was the second walk-off grand slam in the majors this season (Matt Carpenter hit one in April). The Indians joined the Nationals as the only teams with two slams in a game this season, and it was the first time since 1999 that the Indians hit two grand slams in a game.

In their 102nd game, the Red Sox finally hit their 100th home run. Fittingly, it was a solo shot by Hanley Ramirez. Fifty-seven of the Red Sox's homers have been solos, including 12 of Ramirez's 17.

Adrián Beltré went hitless Tuesday, snapping a six-game hitting streak. He was the only one of the top six hitters in the Rangers lineup who didn't record multiple hits.
