Wil Myers ties NYM 5-5 with 2-run drive off the top of the wall in right-center field. He stood at home momentarily to watch; a long single.

Anthony Rizzo has seen 3 pitches so far from Matt Moore and deposited two of them in the right field bleachers. It's his 14th multi home run game of his career and first this season. It's also the second time in his career he has two home runs off of left-handed pitching in the same game. (ESPN Stats and Info). Rizzo now has 4 home runs in his last 4 games and 5 in his last 8.

Chris Sale is the fifth pitcher since 1900 with 100 strikeouts in his first 10 starts. The others? Randy Johnson (113 in 2000, 111 in 2001), Pedro Martinez (108 in 1999 and 2001, 104 in 2000), Curt Schilling (107 in 2002, 106 in 1998) and Roger Clemens (102 in 1998).

Asked after his last start about his double-digit strikeout streak, Chris Sale said he'd "rather be 8-0 with no punchouts." So, never mind that Sale has five Ks through five innings after getting Rougned Odor waving at a slider. Sale also gave up two runs in the frame, including a solo homer by Mike Napoli, and trails 3-1 against the Rangers.

One walk, one unearned run, no strikeouts in the fourth inning for Chris Sale, who nevertheless still hasn't allowed a hit. Red Sox and Rangers tied, 1-1, with Sale stuck on four strikeouts in as many innings.

ESPN Stats and Information

The sixth home run of the season for Angels DH Albert Pujols, hit on Wednesday night, pulls him within 12 of Sammy Sosa in eighth place all-time. Pujols leads all active major leaguers in homers.

Nine up, nine down for Chris Sale, who racks up his fourth strikeout with a 96 mph fastball to Robinson Chirinos to end the third inning. Sale looked like he thought he had Joey Gallo struck out a couple of times on sliders that apparently missed.

Chris Sale gets Rougned Odor to swing through a nasty, dirt-diving slider, then elevates a 96-mph heater to get Mike Napoli swinging. Three strikeouts through two innings.

Tonight's lineup for the Rangers has totaled 36 strikeouts in 77 career at-bats vs. Chris Sale. Shin-Soo Choo leads with 10 Ks; Joey Gallo is 0-for-6 with 6 Ks. (h/t Sarah Langs, ESPN Stats & Information.)

Jake Lamb's home run off Jose Quintana was his first extra-base hit, and only his second hit, in his past 23 trips to the plate against a left-hander. He had struck out in 13 of those PAs. Success against left-handers is really Lamb's only remaining obstacle standing in his path to fantasy stardom, and the homer is at least a good first step. It reminds us that he has shown an ability to succeed against them before: He had .250 isolated power and whiffed only 24 percent of the time against them during the first half of 2016.

With Chris Sale going for his ninth consecutive start with 10 or more strikeouts tonight at Fenway Park, Red Sox manager John Farrell called it "an incredible position to be in, one that personally I could never envision." Farrell did strike out 10-plus batters in three of six starts in 1989.

The Nationals placed OF Chris Heisey (right bicep rupture) on the 10-day DL and recalled OF Brian Goodwin from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding roster move. Goodwin, 26, has slashed .188/.235/.313 in 10 previous games with the big club this season.

The Mets reinstated C Travis d'Arnaud (wrist) from the 10-day DL on Wednesday and placed P Tommy Milone (left knee sprain) on the 10-day DL in a corresponding roster move.

Joe Maddon has been wanting a Ron Burgundy themed trip when heading out west so this weekend his players will don 70's clothes. Maddon thinks Tommy La Stella would make a good Brick Tamland, the weather man in the Anchorman movies: "They're like two interchangeable guys. I see Brick, I see Tommy. I see Tommy, I see Brick. Put some glasses on Tommy, some sideburns, I got Brick."

Jesse Rogers ESPN Staff Writer

Watch Joe Maddon discuss his lineup configuration for Wednesday night as he has Javier Baez leading off. He wanted to keep Ian Happ behind Anthony Rizzo while hoping Baez and fellow righty Albert Almora Jr can do some damage to Giants lefty Matt Moore.

That's the third consecutive quality start by Sonny Gray, it's only the third time in his career he has recorded double-digit strikeouts and he has 19 K's compared to three walks in his past two turns. Better yet: those two opponents (Red Sox, Marlins) are not traditionally known as strikeout-heavy offenses. Intrigued, I am.

Tigers RF J.D. Martinez (rest) is not in Wednesday's lineup vs. the Astros. Tyler Collins will start in his place and bat eighth against Charlie Morton.

ESPN Staff

Giants CF Denard Span is back in the lineup Wednesday vs. the Cubs after missing the past two games with inflammation in his left hand. The veteran will lead off against Kyle Hendricks.
