Oh boy. Yoenis Cespedes lines a double in the gap, but pulls up lame into second base and limps very slowly off the field with some help. Doesn't look good. He had recently missed a few games with a hamstring injury. This is on the heels of Noah Syndergaard missing his start today with a dead arm.

The Red Sox's interest in Chase d'Arnaud likely stems from fact that he can play six positions (2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF) and bats right-handed. He's more versatile than Steve Selsky, and as long as Pablo Sandoval is on the DL and Josh Rutledge/Marco Hernandez are playing more often, Red Sox need versatility on the bench.

Red Sox have claimed INF/OF Chase d'Arnaud off waivers from the Atlanta Braves. To make room on the 40-man roster, reliever Carson Smith has been transferred to the 60-day DL.

Chris Sale led the American League with 274 strikeouts in 2015, but he revamped his approach in 2016 -- lowering his strikeout total in the process. This season, he seems to be in pre-2016 form: He has three games this season with 10 strikeouts. He had four such games in 32 starts last season, his first not coming until Aug. 3.
