Red Sox rookie left fielder Andrew Benintendi has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after twisting his left knee awkwardly as he dove into second base. Benintendi underwent an MRI exam Thursday, and manager John Farrell told reporters that it's too soon to know whether the injury is season-ending. Benintendi, the Red Sox's 22-year-old outfield prospect, was batting .324 since getting called up earlier this month.
