Another homer for Gary Sanchez! The Yankee tied the record for the fastest to 20 HR in MLB history (51 games):

Sanchez mashes 20th HR of season

Gary Sanchez ties the MLB record for fewest games (53) to hit 20 career home runs with his two-run shot in the first inning against the Red Sox.

Gary Sanchez homers -- again -- and the theme from "The Natural" plays at Yankee Stadium, complete with the flickering of the lights. Roy Hobbs has nothing on Sanchez, who ties Wally Berger (1930) for fastest ever to reach 20 homers (53 games).

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

Rookie Gary Sanchez doing Gary Sanchez things again. He just took David Price deep for a two-run homer in the first to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead over the Red Sox. It was Sanchez's 20th homer of the season in 185 at-bats.

Ortiz receives mixed ovation in first AB

David Ortiz gets a mix of boos and cheers in his first at-bat of his last series at Yankee Stadium.

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

In David Ortiz's first at-bat in his last series at Yankee Stadium, he recieved a mixed reaction. It may have been that the Red Sox fans in attendance cheered, while the Yankee fans did not. He flew out to center to end the inning.

Since June 26, the day of Clayton Kershaw's back injury, the Dodgers have gone 49-30, the third best record in the majors behind the Cubs (52-30) and the Red Sox (51-30). The Dodgers erased an eight-game division deficit over that stretch and have clinched the NL West.

Jesse Rogers ESPN Staff Writer

Jorge Soler had an MRI on his right side back in Chicago. It came back clean so he's day to day still. He missed a few days with the injury last week before playing over the weekend but was moving gingerly. He could rejoin the team in the coming days.

Mets officials have suggested that Steven Matz's mechanics were being closely monitored after the elbow issue was diagnosed, and he did not alter his motion and trigger a shoulder problem. Still, a link cannot be completely discounted.
