According to Elias, Rafael Devers is the first player ever with as many as eight home runs in his first 20 major-league games before turning 21.

Rafael Devers has homered in three straight games vs. Yankees. Dare we say, that's David Ortiz-esque.

Todd Frazier has had an eventful night against friend and ex-teammate Chris Sale. Hit by a pitch on the left calf in the second inning, strikeout in the fourth and now a solo homer in the sixth. 4-2, Yankees. Only the fifth time in 25 starts that Sale has allowed more than three earned runs.

Here's what Mets minor-league manager Luis Rojas told me about Rafael Devers' baserunning after managing him in winter ball: "You see his body and he might not look very athletic, like a guy who's going to steal 10 bases in a season or even five. But he moves a lot better than what you think."

Aaron Judge sets a new MLB single-season strikeout record with 36 consecutive games with at least one strikeout.

The Nationals' Stephen Strasburg, who was on the disabled list with nerve impingement in his elbow, is scheduled to make his first appearance since July 23 on Saturday. He is 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA in two starts at Petco Park.

Chris Sale, who entered with 1.18 ERA in 13 career games vs. Yankees, gives up 3-run homer to Tyler Austin in the second inning. Yankees lead 3-0 behind CC Sabathia, making his return from disabled list after missing two starts with knee injury.

ESPN Stats and Information

The Dodgers beat the Tigers 3-0 on Saturday to improve to 87-34 this season. Only two teams have gotten to 87 wins faster in the expansion era (since 1961) - the 1998 Yankees and 2001 Mariners. The Mariners tied the major-league record with 116 wins that season.

ESPN Stats and Information

Red Sox starter Chris Sale needs nine strikeouts Saturday night against the Yankees, in what will be his 25th game of 2017, to reach 250 strikeouts this season. Two pitchers in major league history have had 250 strikeouts in 25 or fewer games: Randy Johnson in 1997 (25), 1999 (24), 2000 (25) and 2001 (23), and Pedro Martínez in 2000 (25). The only thing that changes for the Dodgers from day to day is how they win, not whether they win. On Saturday, it was a 3-0 whitewashing of the Tigers. Hyun-Jin Ryu threw five scoreless innings and three relievers tacked on four more. In his first game for LA, Curtis Granderson went 0 for 4 but reached on an error and scored the game's first run. The Dodgers have won six straight, 21 of 24 and 52 of 61. Now at 53 games over .500, it's getting kind of ridiculous.

Aroldis Chapman is being taken out of the Yankees' closer role to work on location issues, said manager Joe Girardi. es.pn/2fUHydN

Marly Rivera ESPN Writer

The Dodgers announced that Cody Bellinger has a mild right ankle sprain and is listed as day to day. Bellinger turned the ankle running down a fly ball on the warning track in right field in the sixth but was able to finish the inning. Yasiel Puig pinch hit for him in the seventh.

Marly Rivera ESPN Writer

Here is what Yankees manager Joe Girardi said about removing Aroldis Chapman from the closer role: "He's been scuffling for the last 10 days, two weeks. And I just thought for us to get him on track maybe the best way would be to move him around a little bit until he gets going and then when we get him going like I believe he will get going there's a good chance I'll put him right back in that closer's role. I tried to stress to him how important he is to us. And that we believe in him and he's just going through a hard time and we need to get him right. And he'll get right. The law of averages is he's going to get right. It's kind of like a hitter when they go through slumps. Over time it's going to even out. I think he's got a good run coming up, I really believe that."

Yasiel Puig is on deck to bat for Cody Bellinger in the seventh, so maybe the ankle the Dodgers' star rookie turned hasn't loosened up. Will update when we get more info. It's still scoreless. Detroit's Michael Fulmer has limited LA to two hits through 6 1/3 innings.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

We're through six scoreless innings in Detroit between the Dodgers and Tigers. Scary moment for LA in the bottom of the sixth when Cody Bellinger turned his right ankle while running down Nick Castellanos' fly ball to the right field warning track. He limped around for a minute under the watch of manager Dave Roberts and the trainer but remained in the game.

How cold have the Tampa Bay Rays' batters been since the All-Star break (hitting .214 over that span)? Entering Saturday, there were 12 pitchers with at least 10 plate appearances this season who have a batting average better than .214.
