Ben Zobrist had a whirlwind winter after winning WS MVP. His surreal moments included appearing on The Tonight Show, getting a standing ovation at a Bulls game, doing about "3 days of Disney World in like 6 hours", going to the White House and meeting Barack/Michelle Obama then speaking at the National Prayer breakfast and meeting Trump/Pence a few weeks later. He says he's ready for baseball again.

Joe Maddon says he won't pitch his top 4 starters in spring games until March after the Cubs long postseason last year. No.5 type guys Mike Montgomery and Brett Anderson will get innings right away but Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, Kyle Hendricks and John Lackey won't see the mound in a Cactus League game for a bit. Cubs begin playing on Feb.25.

To me, the larger issue with Blake Swihart is how much the Red Sox messed with him by moving him to outfield. Ankle injury while playing left field cost him almost entire season; throwing mechanics altered from what he was used to as catcher.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

On Blake Swihart, whose throwing issues continued in live BP today: He was always likely to open season in Triple-A because of contract status (Swihart has options; Christian Vazquez does not). Throwing issue likely curable, but reinforces value of going back to minors.
