Red Sox don't seem to be considering a DL stint for Xander Bogaerts, who has dealt with groin injury, bruised hand and illness and is 4-for-34 with eight strikeouts in his last nine games. Timing, not injury, is the problem, according to John Farrell. "When you watch him in his early work, watch the BP he takes, it's hard to suggest any ailment is affecting his swing because he's driving the baseball out of the ballpark with routine ability," Farrell said.

Talks would likely focus on pitchers Franklin Perez and Forrest Whitley and outfielders Kyle Talker and Yordan Alvarez -- the four prospects that ESPN's Keith Law included in his midseason top 50. Rookie pitcher Francis Martes and outfielder Derek Fisher are also highly-regarded young players.
