Red Sox make it official, acquiring outfielder Rajai Davis from the Oakland A's for minor-league outfielder Rafael Rincones. Davis joins Sox on day they place Jackie Bradley Jr. on the disabled list.

Yankees first baseman Greg Bird could return to the team's lineup on Friday. Bird is going to play in a rehab games tonight and Thursday. At that point, manager Joe Girardi said the team will evaluate what is next. It seems that could a trip back to New York for the Yankees weekend series with the Mariners. Bird hasn't played since May 1 because of ankle injury.

Jackie Bradley Jr. is headed to disabled list with a sprained left thumb. Red Sox will recall utility infielder Deven Marrero from Triple-A. Bradley's diagnosis followed an MRI today in Boston.

As expected, Kris Bryant is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Reds after getting hit in the hand in the ninth inning on Tuesday night. Tommy La Stella will play third base in his place. Mike Montgomery starts in place of Jon Lester who's on the disabled list. Jon Jay leads off again.
