John Farrell said he has had "multiple interactions" with Dennis Eckersley since the David Price incident on the team plane. Farrell described his relationship with Eck as "certainly professional." Reiterated that he spoke to Price after the incident and the team has "moved on."

Xander Bogaerts has been scratched from Red Sox's lineup due to illness, not related to bruised right hand. Andrew Benintendi, who wasn't in the original lineup, goes to left field; Brock Holt will play third base; Deven Marrero at shortstop.

Rafael Devers: "The work is never done. I just want to learn how to be a superstar third baseman."

Rafael Devers has arrived at Safeco Field. He's expected to be in the Red Sox's lineup Tuesday night vs. Mariners ace Felix Hernandez. His family will come see him play when Red Sox return to Fenway Park at the end of the week.

Brad Hand could be a heck of a fantasy closer if he's not traded -- top-10 caliber, in fact -- but his ability to get righties and lefties out while working multiple innings makes him a pretty good bet to be moved. He's the guy to add in San Diego with Brandon Maurer gone, but this is a probable seven-day string (if that many) of save chances at best.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

Good move by the Royals to acquire three useful arms from the Padres in starter Trevor Cahill and relievers Brandon Maurer and Ryan Buchter. The Royals needed pitching depth and they get that in this deal. Matt Strahm is the main talent acquired by the Padres. He's out for the season after knee surgery and has promise as a starter, but given his struggles throwing enough strikes as a reliever with the Royals, his future is probably in the bullpen.

Jaime García is a low-key addition but one that's a real upgrade to a back-end of a rotation that's been a problem for the team all season. If the Twins, a still-rebuilding team, are to make additions, it should be ones like this one. Prospect Huascar Ynoa was probably on the very bottom of the team's list of Top-25 prospects.
