zep-CHIN-ski. That's how you pronounce the last name of reliever Marc Rzepczynski, whom the Nats acquired from the A's today in exchange for minor league infielder Max Schrock. The 30-year old southpaw joins a Washington pen whose 3.28 ERA leads the NL, but lacks lefty options with vet Oliver Perez struggling and rookie Sammy Solis sidelined (shoulder). In 56 games with Oakland, zep-CHIN-ski posted a 3.00 ERA, but his 14.2% walk rate was the highest among AL relievers (min. 30 IP).

Fascinating trade involving the Phillies and Dodgers. Carlos Ruiz goes to the Dodgers for C AJ Ellis, RHP Tommy Bergjans and a player to be named later. Wonder if Ruiz becomes Clayton Kershaw's personal catcher when Kershaw returns

"To me it looks like he's getting run down," Collins said about deGrom, who has allowed a combined 13 runs and 25 hits in 9 2/3 innings over his last two starts. Collins said he will have to convene in New York with Sandy Alderson before making any decision.
