Masahiro Tanaka is not only trying to help pitch the Yankees into the playoffs, he is trying to make his opt-out decision difficult. Tanaka will start tonight after the Yankees took him off the DL following his recovery from inflammation in his right shoulder. At the end of the season, he can opt out of the final three years and $68 million of his contract. Right now, it is hard to see him doing that with an 8-10 record and a 4.92 ERA.

In just a little while, Rory McIlroy is gonna make more contact with a ball than Aaron Judge has in a while! That's not really fair. McIlroy will be hitting a golf balls along with a patient from St. Jude Children's Hospital at multiple targets from the 200 level at Yankee Stadium onto the field.

Andrew Miller: "I wasn't doing us any favors" by staying in the game. Said he felt fine until the pitch that walked Mookie Betts. Felt same thing on first pitch to Andrew Benintendi. "I hope it's not something that holds me back," said Miller, who will be reevaluated Tuesday. "Hopefully it's just a blip in the whole scheme of things."

Whatever the WAR says for Nick Vincent, it's wrong. Mariners wouldn't be in contention w/o him, & after 4 errors today may be time for Cruz

Athletics centerfielder Herschel "Boog" Powell hit his first career HR ...in Baltimore. He's no relation to John "Boog" Powell, who hit 303 HR for the Orioles and now runs a barbecue pit in Camden Yards. But the two are scheduled to meet for the first time on Tuesday.

Seven pitches into the seventh inning, Andrew Miller is finished. Leaving the game with an apparent injury after brief meeting with Indians manager Terry Francona and a trainer. Miller waited for a while before the inning began while umpire Alan Porter suited up to take over behind the plate, then walked Mookie Betts before going to a 1-0 count on Andrew Benintendi. No clear indication of nature of injury.
