The Yankees beat the White Sox, 12-3, in a long and eventful game. Making his debut, rookie Miguel Andujar had three hits, including a double, and four RBIs. He is the first Yankee ever to have three hits and four RBIs in their first game. Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer in the 6th and appeared to give a couple of glances to fans in right, who had heckled him all game. Meanwhile, Gary Sanchez was lectured on the bench by manager Joe Girardi apparently for not blocking balls with enough vigor. Sanchez then loafed to first during his next at-bat, a groundout. Sanchez would later fail to catch a foul popup as he and Chase Headley didn't see eye-to-eye.
