Bryce Harper is hitting leadoff for the first time in six weeks. Nats manager Davey Martinez says he made the switch to help his slumping slugger get back to taking his walks. Harper batted leadoff early May, drawing two walks. Since being moved out of the top spot, he has 45 strikeouts (most in NL) against 13 walks, and is hitting just .190.

The Yankees picked up their 50th win of the season Thursday, beating the Mariners, 4-3. The win earned the Yankees their seventh series sweep (they had 10 last year). Aaron Judge and Miguel Andújar were the heroes, hitting a pair of first-inning two-run homers that gave the Yankees all the scoring they needed.

With Miguel Andújar's first-inning homer Thursday, the Yankees now have seven players each with 10 or more homers. Per Elias, it's the first time they've had that many players in double figures before July 1 since 2009. The Yankees won the World Series that year.

The Yankees today placed righty reliever A.J. Cole on the 10-day DL retroactive to Wednesday with a left neck strain. To take his place, the Yankees have returned Luis Cessa (oblique) from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the DL.
