Jay Bruce departed Wednesday's game in the top of the second inning with the escort of a trainer. Bruce had legged out a double and was removed for a pinch runner later in the frame. The Mets did not immediately announce the nature of the injury.

Mark Teixeira wasn't surprised the Mariners intentionally walked Gary Sanchez twice to get to him. Teixeira pointed out he is hitting .197 and that Sanchez is hitting everything a mile. "Shoot, if Babe Ruth is hitting behind him you intentionally walk him," Teixeira said. "I mean he is as hot as any player I have played with in my entire career. You just don't see guys doing what he is doing. I don't care how old he is."
