Scene from a division-clinching party: Red Sox president of baseball ops Dave Dombrowski walking around the clubhouse without his shoes. "It's fantastic, but you also know that this is only one step," he said. "This is great, and you can tell everybody's happy. But we have other goals left to achieve."

David Ortiz, as he entered raucous clinching celebration in Red Sox's clubhouse: "I wanted to celebrate on that field so bad, but it is what it is. We end up being the first place team in the American League, and we're going to celebrate anyway. I'm going to drown in this, man."

ESPN Stats and Information

Mark Teixeira became the first Yankees player to hit a walk-off grand slam against the Red Sox since Charlie Keller in 1942. It was Teixeira's first career regular season walk-off HR (he hit one in the 2009 ALDS). He had the most of anyone who didn't have a walk-off HR (he entered with 408). The new leader in that stat is ex-Tigers slugger, Norm Cash (377)

After 13 years of Petco Park in San Diego, somebody has finally hit a home run on the roof of the Western Metal Supply Co., in a regular-season game anyway. The Padres' Hunter Renfroe, in his seventh career game, crushed one on top of the fourth floor of the brick building down the LF line. Perhaps more of those are coming from Renfroe, who already has four HRs in those seven games.

ESPN Stats and Information

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado became the 3rd player to record back-to-back 40-homer, 130-RBI seasons before turning 26. The other 2, per the Elias Sports Bureau, are Chuck Klein and Jimmie Foxx.
