ESPN Stats and Information

Gary Sánchez hit a 493-foot home run against the Tigers tonight. That's 2 feet shy of the longest HR in the majors this season, a 495-foot shot hit by his Yankees teammate, Aaron Judge on June 11 against the Orioles.

The streak is over. Aaron Judge's strikeout streak has come to an end. Judge had K'd in a major league record 37 games, but didn't on Tuesday night. He went 1-for-1 with three walks before being lifted as the Yanks were blowing out the Tigers.

John Lackey has once again tied for the MLB lead in home runs given up as No.'s 30 and 31 left the park off him on Tuesday. Scooter Gennett hit a solo shot while Eugenio Suarez sent one deep with two on. The 31 given up match his career high, set back in 2003.

Jed Lowrie has homered in back-to-back games and is now batting .270/.329/.459 in 19 games in August, which only furthers Franklin Barreto's stay at Triple-A Nashville. Lowrie has been a won't-hurt-you fantasy middle infielder when healthy this year, but it's strange to see the Athletics still playing him regularly when they're already giving fairly regular playing time to youngsters Matt Chapman, Matt Olson, Chad Pinder and Boog Powell. Barreto has batted .286/.325/.481 with six homers and six steals in 36 games since the Triple-A All-Star break, but it seems like his time to help the A's will have to wait until after Nashville's season ends on Sept. 4. Even then, there's no promise he'll get the majority of time at second base over Lowrie.

Oakland corner infielder Ryon Healy has a pair of homers off a right-hander tonight, even though it's Ubaldo Jimenez, who isn't good. Healy has been a disappointment this season. A third of his homers entering today came versus lefties. He doesn't take walks, so doesn't get on base at a reasonable clip. This is a platoon guy. Healy isn't guaranteed playing time next year. Everyone's hitting homers. He needs to hit better right-handed pitching, and there's no evidence he will. Fantasy owners should use him against lefties ... and Ubaldo, basically.

The Yankees' Gary Sanchez's first inning two-run shot was the second longest in baseball this year, according to StatCast. Sanchez' shot went 493-feet. Aaron Judge hit one earlier in the season that was estimated at 495-feet.

Tough day on the injury front, as two of the top 30 starting pitchers of the past month, Danny Salazar (No. 29 on the Player Rater) and Alex Wood (No. 25), the No. 16 overall player during that same time frame, Joey Gallo, and the No. 30 player for the season, Cody Bellinger, all landed in the DL. Of those, Salazar's is of greatest concern, as it's his third DL stint in the past 13 months and second for an elbow issue. I can't say I'd plan on him contributing to fantasy teams the rest of the way.

Jerry Crasnick ESPN Senior Writer

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says Alex Wood's inflamed SC joint is "very benign." It still necessitated a DL visit.

Like all MLB teams, the Yankees will wear alternative jerseys this weekend, meaning they will have names on their backs and no pinstripes. Commissioner Rob Manfred, who grew up a Yankee fan, said, "Modern civilization is going to probably survive."

In Detroit, commissioner Rob Manfred confirmed ESPN's Scott Lauber's story that MLB will institute a league wide policy for fan conduct beginning next season.
