The Orioles and Angels combined for 10 HR on Friday. Elias notes that it was the third time in MLB history that teams combined for 10 HR, which accounted for every run in the game.

ESPN Stats and Information

Manny Machado is the third player in MLB history to cap a 3-HR game with a walk-off grand slam. The others? Khris Davis (2016) & Joey Votto (2012) .

Red Sox 9, Yankees 6: If the Red Sox wind up defending their AL East title, the Yankees will look back on this as the night it slipped away. Staked to a 6-3 lead in the seventh inning, New York's bullpen imploded. Boston scored four runs in the seventh, taking the lead on Mitch Moreland's two-run pinch single, and two more in the eighth against embattled Aroldis Chapman. And with Chris Sale scheduled to start Saturday night, the Red Sox's lead in the division is five games.

ESPN Stats and Information

The Angels are the second team in MLB history to give up three walk-off grand slams in a single season, joining the 1963 Cubs. All three grand slams have come since July 25.

The rematch between Rafael Devers and Aroldis Chapman goes to ... Devers again. Leadoff single on a 100.4 mph first-pitch fastball in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Red Sox leading 7-6.

The Dodgers win again, this time overcoming an early 2-0 deficit and rolling to a no-sweat 8-5 win over the Detroit Tigers. Chris Taylor had four hits, Corey Seager drove in three runs and Logan Forsythe scored three. The big news was the return of Adrian Gonzalez, who doubled in his first plate appearance since June 11. Gonzalez was activated on Friday from the 60-day DL, where he landed because of persistent back trouble.

ESPN Stats and Information

Albert Pujols hit his 609th career HR Friday, tying Sammy Sosa for 8th-most all time. He also ties Sosa for most HR by a player born outside the 50 states.

Aaron Judge has tied the single-season MLB record with his 35th consecutive game with at least one strikeout.

Bases loaded for Aaron Judge (again.)

Here's the paradox with Joe Kelly: Entering tonight, he had thrown 444 fastballs that averaged 99.32 mph, but nevertheless got only 47 swing-and-misses, according to Brooks Baseball. Gary Sanchez's game-tying homer came on a 99-mph heater.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Joe Kelly hit triple digits six times in that seven-pitch at-bat against Aaron Judge, including 100 on the grounder to short that got him out and ended the Yankees' bases-loaded threat. Red Sox lead, 3-2, in the middle of the sixth inning.

Coley Harvey ESPN Staff Writer

A decent mix of cheers and boos ahead of Giancarlo Stanton's first at-bat at Citi Field. Some loud ohhhs and ahhhs when the Marlins RF made contact for the first time (a hard foul ball to the stands high behind the first-base dugout), too. After working the count to 3-2, Stanton walked. This is his first game since his six-game home run streak came to an end Wednesday.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Back spasms for Drew Pomeranz, according to the Red Sox.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Drew Pomeranz, who has been Red Sox's second-best starting pitcher, is leaving the game with an apparent lower body injury in the top of the fourth inning. Awaiting word on exact nature of the injury. Pomeranz threw two warmup pitches and was unable to continue.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

Clearly shaken by Detroit's two-run first, the Dodgers bounce back with a four-run second off Jordan Zimmerman. Here's great news for the 29 teams chasing LA: Fresh off a long DL stay because of back trouble, Adrian Gonzalez doubled and scored in his Major League first plate appearance since June 11.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Miguel Cabrera's first-inning double was No. 543 on his career, tying him with Tony Gwynn for 34th all-time. Next up: Derek Jeter had 544. There is probably a Marlins tie-in there somewhere.
