Dodgers manager Dave Roberts: "This game, this series, was emblematic of our ballclub, of how many people had their hands in this series to help win three games."

Has Yasiel Puig ever been on a roll like this? "Yes, in my house in video games."

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Yasiel Puig left Tuesday's game early because his home was burglarized (for the fourth time since spring training of 2017). He tried to make it back to the game before it ended, but there was too much traffic. "My pilot's not home," he said. "He's on vacation."

Yasiel Puig, the Dodgers' hero tonight: "We're going to win the West again and go to the playoffs."

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

The Dodgers win, 5-2, and sweep a crucial three-game series against the Rockies. They have won seven of their last eight games and now own a season-high 2 1/2-game lead in the NL West.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Again: Yasiel Puig has drastic reverse splits these last two years. The Rockies left a righty in to face him, with 1B open, then went to a lefty after he hit the home run. Doesn't make sense.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Yasiel Puig is out of his mind. A pinch-hit three-run homer, giving the Dodgers a 5-2 lead in the seventh inning. It is his sixth home run in his last 18 at-bats.

Watch Cole Hamels discuss his rough outing in the Cubs 9-0 loss to Az on Wednesday. He gave up four, first innings runs.

Walker Buehler completed six innings despite a 36-pitch first, striking out 12 batters and allowing two unearned runs. He has reached 140 2/3 innings for the season, but whatever innings limit he carried into it has seemingly been forgotten now. He is, basically, the Dodgers' co-ace.

Before greeting grandparents, parents, siblings and friends in the tunnel after Wednesday's game, Justus Sheffield admitted he was still trying to calm his nerves. He's still excited about his MLB debut. He even heard the Bleacher Creatures chant his name in the middle of his ninth inning. "That's how you know I wasn't really locked in," he joked. At points, he was so nervous he thought his hand was shaking and he was balking. As for the long Mookie Betts foul ball, he's known Betts (who gave him a head nod before the AB) a while. He definitely didn't want to give up a homer to him in his debut.

Walker Buehler recorded 35 strikeouts in his first 25 innings this month. He has 10 tonight, a career high (that will probably be topped many times over).

Luke Voit on this series with Boston: "We don't want them to clinch here. They're our rival, and we're going to try to do everything we can. We've been cold as a team, and we haven't been our New York Yankees ... (With improving health) it's scary how good this team's going to be, and we're looking to do some damage when we get to the playoffs." Added Luis Severino: "It doesn't matter what the score says. They're going to win 100-something games, we're going to be behind them. We're going to grind until the end. Every game from here out, we're going to fight until the end."

Nolan Arenado has come up with five runners on base and struck out twice. He's playing through a sore shoulder and has really been struggling at the plate, hitting .200 over his past 22 games with three home runs.

Rockies LF Gerardo Parra did not move an inch. Matt Kemp launched one way over his head for his 20th home run this season. The Dodgers now have seven players with 20-plus home runs, a franchise record.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Walker Buehler faced seven batters, threw 36 pitches and allowed a couple of runs, on a two-out single by Ian Desmond, in the first inning. The Dodgers had a reliever, Zac Rosscup, warming in the bullpen. Buehler has allowed 2 runs or less in 8 of his last 9 starts.

Quite an adventure in the top of the first at Dodger Stadium. The Rockies load the bases with no outs, Walker Buehler nearly works out of the jam, but then Ian Desmond -- starting at shortstop -- grounds a hard-hit two-run single up the middle. Buehler ends up throwing 36 pitches. Looks one of those nights where we might see six or seven Dodgers relievers. Yay.
