Craig Kimbrel con su 42° salvamento de la temporada, iguala a Derek Lowe (2000) para la mayor cantidad en la historia de la franquicia. Es poco probable que rompa el récord de 46 de Tom Gordon este año (1998).

Craig Kimbrel with his 42nd save of the season, matching Derek Lowe (2000) for second-most in franchise history. Unlikely to break Tom Gordon's record of 46 this year (1998).

For tough-luck Mets ace Jacob deGrom, who improved to 9-9 with a victory over Washington, 10 is the new 20.

After giving up 2 earned runs over 3.1 innings, Chris Sale's ERA is now 2.0; above 1.97 for the first time since July 27th. It's the first increase in Sale's ERA since the beginning of June. Had lowered it from 3.00 on June 1st to 1.92 in his last appearance on September 16th.

The NL Cy Young race isn't officially over yet, but the engraver can start practicing that lowercase d. That's because Mets ace Jacob deGrom was nails again, limiting the Nats to a run on three hits over seven innings. It's his 23rd consecutive quality start, a new single-season record. His ERA now sits at 1.77, well over a half run better than the next closest NL starter (Aaron Nola, 2.44). At this point, it would seemingly take a catastrophic final start for deGrom to not win the Cy Young. Even if he does get torched next time out, he'll probably still win the thing. That's how dominant he's been.

Before the game, Josh Donaldson told us about all the work he has been doing with Dr. Josh Sandell, a pioneering sports medicine specialist who works for the Minnesota Vikings and follows a multidimensional, systematic approach to treating orthopedic injuries. He met Dr. Sandell through who he called his "good friend" Arizona's WR Larry Fitzgerald. Donaldson told me he feels 100 percent healthy and that it was something that truly changed his rehab process. He has also changed some aspects of his workout routine and nutrition. "Two days after I saw (Dr. Sandell), that was the first time I was able to start running, and I ran my longest distance while accelerating probably without any pain."

Josh Donaldson snaps Chris Sale's streak of 75 consecutive innings without allowing a home run.
