Back in the Bronx with another gorgeous day. On the field going through some early work is Luis Severino. Found it interesting that he was doing a little base running; tagging from third, running from home. He's scheduled to pitch in an NL park next week. Yankees don't need any more pitchers straining hamstrings running the bases after Masahiro Tanaka landed on the DL doing the same.

The most impressive stat so far that nobody is paying attention to: Eduardo Escobar has 30 doubles, putting him on pace for 71. Earl Webb's 67 has stood as the record since 1931. The Angels have lost 7 of their last 8 and have gone from 3 1/2 to 10 1/2 back in the AL West during that stretch. Mike Trout says his team can't think about that. "If you do that, it's going to snowball, and it's just going to get worse."

Over his last seven games, Mike Trout has reached base via a walk or a hit in 24 of his 33 plate appearances. The Angels, who lost 7-4 to the D-backs tonight, are 1-6 in that stretch.
