In addition to running bases and reading fly balls and grounders in right field, Aaron Judge took some swings, without a bat, underwater today. Aaron Boone said Judge's wrist has shown "significant improvement over the last couple days ... today was a big step forward in what he's able to do."

Austin Gomber tossed six shutout innings and continues to intrigue, but I still can't make the case in mixed leagues: 4 walks tonight (control often an issue), he's a fly baller and his upcoming schedule is tough (at LAD, at Coors the next two).

Harrison Bader is doing it all tonight: a diving catch on a Bryce Harper line drive, scored on a wild pitch, a double and an RBI single. He's hitting .333 (15-for-45) in August.

Buck Showalter's summer — losing 14-1 to the Mets, about to fall 50 games out of 1st place in mid-August. Fifty. Unreal.

Wilson Ramos: "I can't wait to go out there and make my Phillies debut. I know and understand why they brought me here and I'm really looking forward to working with this major league staff."

One of the two specks in right field is Aaron Judge. After doing some base running, he was just tracking a flew fly balls and ground balls before tonight's game. Also threw those he fielded to the nearby bucket.

The Cubs acquired outfielder Terrance Gore from the Kansas City Royals for cash on Wednesday, assigning him to Triple-A Iowa. He'll likely be called up after Sept. 1 and serve as a pinch runner for the stretch run. It's the sort of move the Cubs have made in the past at this time of year. Gore has 309 career steals as a pro -- 21 in the majors in just 14 plate appearances.
