As the Yankees prepare to activate Greg Bird (ankle surgery) off the disabled list tomorrow, Aaron Boone says the team is "still working through" what the corresponding move will be. Calls it a "difficult decision." Asked about Tyler Austin, Boone credits him for being a key part of the reason the Yankees have had success this season. Austin is one player who could be an option to go to the minors as Bird comes back. As for Bird post-injury, the first baseman is "as ready as he can be," Boone said.

Beautiful day in the Bronx for some baseball.

Gleyber Torres has been pounding the ball practically since his arrival to the bigs on April 22. But all this month, he's gone on a power-hitting tear that puts him among the best in baseball. Each of Torres' eight homers have come since May 4. That's the second-best homer production in the majors in that span behind J.D. Martinez's nine.

Not surprisingly considering the time of year, Theo Epstein said today there have been "zero trade talks" between the Cubs and other teams. Any report to the contrary is false, according to Epstein.

So since Dylan Bundy's disastrous May 8 start against the Royals, he has a 2.86 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 29 K's in three starts, and his fastball has averaged 1.4 mph more than it did in that game. A podcast whiff on my part, but I guess it was a mechanical issue after all.

ESPN Stats and Information

Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks in the Angels' 8-1 win on Thursday. It was his first career game with multiple doubles or multiple walks. The Angels are 11-2 this season when Ohtani reaches base multiple times in a game.

Jared Hughes gets the Reds' first save since Raisel Iglesias' DL placement. That's nine straight scoreless outings for Hughes, whose ERA is now 1.23. While it's possible Hughes will be unavailable Friday after working three in a row (albeit on 28 total pitches), and Iglesias shouldn't be out long, Hughes is a worthwhile short term add for you saves chasers.

He's not yet Josh Hader's equal in terms of strikeouts and volume of relief innings, but Amir Garrett is sure making his case. With today's 1 1/3 perfect innings and 3 K's, Garrett has 12 K's, a 1.29 ERA and three appearances of four-plus outs in his past five games. There are very few fantasy formats out there where he can't make a noticeable impact.

Edwin Diaz on pace for 84 innings and 152 strikeouts. He's pitched on back-to-back days eight times (including three straight once). It's a heavy workload; we'll see if he can keep it going.

The Mariners pull out another one-run victory, a 1-0 win over the A's with the only run scoring on an error. Marco Gonzales tossed seven scoreless innings as he continues to look like the second-best starter on the team and Edwin Diaz struck out the side on 13 pitches for the save. That's 45 K's in 25.1 innings for Diaz as the M's climb 10 games over .500.
