This is a little late, but I just wanted to say how proud we all are of ESPN colleague Claire Smith for making history as the first woman to win the J.G. Taylor Spink Award. Everyone knows that Claire is a talented, principled and accomplished journalist. But it's the other things that come to mind for me: She's the kindest, most encouraging person I've met in the business, and there might only be a handful who come close. All her friends in the baseball world share in her achievement, and we can't wait to stand and cheer when she gives her speech in Cooperstown in July.

Price, Porcello or Sale? Who's going to be the Red Sox starter on Opening Day? "We'll have plenty of time to figure that out," manager John Farrell said, laughing.

The Dodgers carried an extra reliever for most of last season and it helped them to become one of the better bullpens in baseball. It is not necessarily a plan they are married to for 2017. "I think it was more so a necessity," manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday. "I think the model still is to get starters to go deeper in a game. I don't know the average start, the innings last year, but when you're not going deep, the extra reliever was certainly a necessity, as opposed to just a luxury."
