In terms of the Yankees' current manifestation of the the middle of the order, Aaron Boone smiled and said: "I like how it looks right now. I like the feel of it." This is the lineup that features Didi Gregorius No. 3, Giancarlo Stanton No. 4. Boone isn't sure if this is why it seems his players 1-9 have had more quality at-bats of late, but he does like what he's seen out of this order.

Aaron Boone wants to get through tonight's game before putting anything in stone, but with a Yankees day game coming Thursday after Wednesday's night game, his current plan is for Austin Romine to catch Sonny Gray tomorrow. Gary Sanchez will catch Thursday.

A promising sign for the Yankees' outfield this afternoon. OF Billy McKinney, who went on the disabled list April 1, is out taking a few fly balls and ground balls several hours before tonight's game. He suffered a left shoulder sprain when he crashed hard into the outfield wall at Toronto in the season's opening series. Slowly but surely this banged-up Yankees team is getting healthier.

The White Sox have placed RF Avisail Garcia on the DL because of the hamstring injury he suffered when trying to beat out a grounder during Monday's game. In his place, Chicago has called up OF/1B Daniel Palka from Triple-A Charlotte. Palka, 26, was a waiver claim from the Twins last fall who will be making his big league debut. In any event, White Sox fans will probably look at his name and read it as "Not Eloy Jimenez." But the lefty-hitting Palka was off to a good start for Charlotte, so we'll see what he can do in The Show.

After pitching the final two innings Monday night, Yankees reliever David Hale was designated for assignment. He's being replaced by now former Nationals righty A.J. Cole, who was traded to New York on Monday in exchange for cash considerations. Cole is being added to the 25-man roster. Hale struck out three and allowed three hits in his solid relief outing.

The Bronx Bombers lived up to their nickname Monday night, as every player in the starting lineup reached base. Only Brett Gardner (two walks) failed to get a hit. Aaron Judge launched a deep double. Giancarlo Stanton went 4-for-4 (his first four-hit game as a Yankee) with a long homer. Didi Gregorius hit a grand slam. Tyler Austin homered. So did Miguel Andújar. And 21-year-old 2B Gleyber Torres, playing in just his second major-league game, got his first career hit. That leadoff single kicked off a six-run eighth that helped the Yankees cruise to a 14-1 win over the Twins.
