When the Yankees placed reliever Adam Warren on the 10-day DL Saturday, they did so with the understanding he'll be shut down that entire length of time. Aaron Boone said the mild right back strain will shelve Warren longer than those 10 days. Warren said this was more an issue of discomfort rather than a pain issue. He felt it during his past couple appearances, but figured he could play through it. Could feel it a little more Friday night while throwing his off-speed pitches.

"He's clearly, to me, one of the best players in the league. I talk about him winning pitches all the time. He wins so many pitches over the course of the game up there. You better execute when you're facing him or you're in trouble." —Aaron Boone on Yankees slugger Aaron Judge

Another rough start for Danny Duffy. So far this season vs. 2017, he isn't throwing strikes (pitches in the strike zone dropped from 55 to 47%) and his rate of swinging strikes has dropped from 12.5 to 9.6%. He's using his fastball more often, but his velocity is down even though the spin rate on his fastball is up from 2243 to 2346.

The Tigers are on a tear at the plate, hitting 10 home runs this week -- second-most in the majors behind the Red Sox -- after poking just five in 2018 beforehand. Nicholas Castellanos hit his first homer of the season, a good development as they wait for him to adjust to RF, where he's already made five defensive mistakes this season (per Sports Info Solutions).

The Cubs placed Ben Zobrist (back) on the 10 day DL on Saturday retroactive to April 18. Taking his place is 25 year old David Bote who will make his ML debut against the Rockies Sat night at Coors Field. Bote will bat 8th and play third base after an impressive spring camp. He was drafted in the 18th round in 2012 making this his 7th year in the Cubs system. He's a Colorado native and currently lives about 10 miles north of Denver. He was added to the Cubs 40-man roster last November.

The White Sox say that reliever Danny Farquhar suffered a brain hemorrhage during the sixth inning of last night's game, causing him to collapse in the dugout. Additional testing at Rush University Medical Center revealed that a ruptured aneurysm caused his brain to bleed. Farquhar is in stable but critical condition in the neurosurgical ICU unit at Rush. The team will be updating the situation as needed over the next few days.

Saturday's sixth inning was a good example of how dangerous this version of the Yankees' lineup can be. Leadoff hitter Brett Gardner opened with a base hit. Then, Aaron Judge, who crushed a 443-foot homer his previous at-bat, drew a four-pitch walk from Marcus Stroman, who seemed unclear on how exactly to pitch him. (It also helped that a first-pitch wild pitch put Gardner in scoring position) After a Didi Gregorius RBI-single, Giancarlo Stanton drew a four-pitch walk. Three batters later, with the bases loaded, Miguel Andújar cleared them on a double to left. Judge also drove in a run late in the frame. By the end, it was a seven-run inning.

So Justin Verlander didn't like Tim Anderson celebrating after a steal attempt on a 3-0 count on Friday? Verlander got the last laugh, picking Anderson off and enjoyed it too. We should want more of this: Players living in the moment, less mechanical obedience to the 'unwritten rules.'

The Yankees today recalled reliever Jonathan Holder from Triple-A. He'll be taking the roster spot of right-hander Adam Warren, who goes on the 10-day disabled list. Warren, who pitched Friday night, has been diagnosed with a right back strain.
