Kenley Jansen has become the seventh different Dodgers reliever to be tagged with a loss in the last 10 games. They lose to the Cardinals, 5-3.

The only other time Kenley Jansen allowed multiple home runs in a regular-season game, per ESPN Stats & Info: May 2013.

Or ... not? Kenley Jansen served up back-to-back home runs to the first two batters he faced, Jedd Gyorko and Matt Carpenter, in his return from an irregular heartbeat. Jansen had allowed just 6 home runs in 54 1/3 innings all year.

"California Love" blares from the Dodger Stadium speakers and Kenley Jansen trots out to the mound with this game still tied in the ninth inning. A welcomed sight, to say the least.

Max Muncy, a .244 hitter since the start of July, reached out and poked a sixth consecutive triple-digit fastball from Jordan Hicks into left field for a two-out, pinch-hit RBI single, tying this game at 3 in the seventh inning.

The Astros' blowpen does it again: Robinson Cano smacks a three-run homer to left-center off Collin McHugh in the bottom of the eighth to give the Mariners a 7-4 lead. Seattle swept four straight from Houston earlier this month, so this would mean five in a row over the Astros. McHugh had not allowed more than one run in any outing this season, so most of those bullpen issues haven't been his fault.

The Reds are now 1-16 in games Homer Bailey starts, which means they're a respectable 54-54 in games he doesn't start. The worst team record in the wild-card era (minimum 20 starts): the 2010 Mariners went 3-17 in Ryan Rowland-Smith's starts.

Manny Machado is starting to get going again for the Dodgers. He flied out to the warning track his last time up and just smacked an RBI single up the middle to get his team on the board. That's seven hits in his last 22 at-bats and several hard outs.

It took Pedro Baez an average of about 30 seconds to throw his last six pitches of the fifth inning, from the time the ball arrived at his glove to the time it left his hand. But he did a nice job, inheriting the bases loaded with none out and allowing only one run to come across.

Betts doubles; Benintendi walks. Nobody out, and Cody Allen seems to have no feel for his breaking ball right now. 5-3 Cleveland.

The Brewers take a 3-2 in the lead in the sixth with a two-out and two-strike rally. Jesus Aguilar singled with two outs and then Travis Shaw homered to right off an 0-2 fastball that Homer Bailey left up in the zone.

"No restrictions," Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen said. "I can do what we I want to."
