The most impressive part of Joe Ross' performance against the Mariners tonight: Against left-handers, he afforded just two hits and no walks while striking out four, generating seven swings and misses and getting seven ground balls in their 14 trips to the plate. Entering tonight, he had allowed .306/.374/.469 rates to lefties in his career. Ross has surely earned himself another start for the Nationals, and he should earn a spot on your fantasy roster for it as well.

ESPN Stats and Information

Twins starter Ervin Santana is the only pitcher in MLB with multiple shutouts this season.

Rookie Jordan Montgomery leaves to a nice hand after his best outing of his young career. Montgomery allowed just one run on two hits, striking out six and walking none in 6 2/3 innings. The Yankees are beating the Royals, 2-1 in the 7th. Aaron Judge is 0-for-2 with a walk.

ESPN Stats and Information

Austin Hedges made one of the best catches of a foul pop that you will see this year. Covered lots of ground, headlong dive.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, Kyle Schwarber's first inning HR off of Johnny Cueto traveled 460 ft, the longest of his (regular season) career and the furthest off Cueto since tracking began in 2009. Meanwhile Jason Heyward's second inning blast was his fourth of the year. He didn't hit his fourth until June 11 last season.

In the past calendar year, Charlie Blackmon ranks fourth in baseball in batting average (.329), ninth in home runs (38), eighth in RBIs (108) and first in runs (129) and hits (216). He also has 18 stolen bases during that time. Blackmon might not receive the fanfare that Mookie Betts, Kris Bryant and Manny Machado do in fantasy baseball, but he belongs right up there with each of them as a first-round, franchise player.

Eddie Matz ESPN Senior Writer

Bryce Harper and Jayson Werth just went back-to-back in the fourth to give the Nationals a 7-0 lead over the Mariners. Washington has also hit for the cycle in the inning.

ESPN Stats and Information

Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks has 8 HR in 33 games. He had 8 in 123 games last season.

Dave Dombrowski, again to NESN, said "to pin (recent struggles) on John Farrell are just not fair. I think we're in a position where he's managed well, he's managed divisional champions. I think we're in a position, we have a good club. We just need to get in a better flow of things."

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

In pregame interview with NESN (he didn't talk to print reporters), Dave Dombrowski said he met with John Farrell and several baseball ops staffers "just to kind of go over our club and try to get it to fit together a little bit." Dombrowski said quarter-pole evaluation tougher than usual because of all injuries.

ESPN Stats and Information

The last was Dave Mlicki, 2002 Astros (Mlicki was a former Met). Chacin is the 2nd starting pitcher to allow at least 7 runs and 8 hits in less than an inning vs the Mets. The other instance was by Hall-of-Famer Jim Bunning of the 1970 Phillies (also 7 runs, 8 hits).
