Cubs lefty Drew Smyly (Tommy John) will throw a simulated game on Sunday then probably one more next week before heading out to the minors on a rehab assignment. He's expected to join the bullpen in August but the Cubs haven't ruled out a start for him if its needed as he's able.

Aaron Boone says the team thinks Aroldis Chapman is OK. The Yankees will be further evaluating the closer who has been pitching through knee tendinitis the past couple months, but the belief is it may simply have been rust and the long time off for Chapman.

After closer Aroldis Chapman got in trouble in the inning (the Yankees entered leading 7-3), reliever Chasen Shreve cleaned up the mess and finished the win. This is the Yankees' first W of the second half.
