Jim Edmonds' comeback slowed

JUPITER, Fla. -- Jim Edmonds, who recently signed a minor league deal with the St. Louis Cardinals, is questionable for the start of spring drills with a left foot injury.

General manager John Mozeliak said the 40-year-old Edmonds was not walking well and would meet with team doctors soon. Mozeliak added he didn't think Edmonds would be ready soon.

The Cardinals signed Edmonds, a key member of the team from 2000-07, to add outfield depth. The eight-time Gold Glove winner is seven homers shy of 400 and 51 hits shy of 2,000.
