PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates placed reliever Stolmy Pimentel on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation, one of four roster moves Pittsburgh made Saturday.
Pimentel, a 24-year-old rookie, is 2-1 with a 3.18 ERA in six appearances for the Pirates this season. He last pitched Thursday against Baltimore, allowing a game-ending home run to Matt Wieters in the 10th inning.
His average fastball velocity this season is down 4 mph from last year's 94.7 mph, according to fangraphs.com. He had a 1.93 ERA in five appearances with Pittsburgh last year as a September callup.
